Solving pollution and waste problems -World Environment Day

First held in 1974, World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 JUNE every year, for raising awareness on emerging environmental issues and encouraging action for the protection of our environment.

Our environmental policy (part of the sustainability policy) states that Telenor is committed to protect the environment by undertaking initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility and support business initiatives using communications services to develop eco-efficient solutions. So at Telenor Pakistan we put a full use of our resources and efforts on the organizational level to adapt and implement following hierarchy which gives a step by step approach in saving the environment for our future generations.

Prevent- avoid as much as possible action that can cause that can cause damage to environment such as switching off lights or AC when not in use

Reduce- the need for travel where possible and use online services for interactions

Reuse- electronic equipment such as computers, mobile phones to be reused till end of life cycle

Recover- recycling of waste by use of dedicated waste bins for disposing off waste

Safe disposal- ensuring landfill in a dedicated space away from water bodies carried out by certified vendor

We all have a responsibility to hand over a greener world to the next generation, anything less would be selfish. This year let’s go beyond our workplace and take steps at individual level for betterment of environment.
